1. Sigiriya  

Sigiriya, popularly referred to as Lion Rock, is a central Matale District of Sri Lanka and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a must-visit location for tourists and one of the island's most recognizable sights. Sigiriya is a massive rock stronghold that rises sharply 200 meters above the plains around it. It has an interesting history that dates back to the fifth century. A prominent characteristic of Sigiriya is the enormous gateway styled like a lion that formerly protected the entry to the palace perched on top of the cliff. The enormous paws engraved into the granite continue to stand as a tribute to the site's magnificence, despite the fact that the lion's head has since disintegrated.

2. Kandy Dalada Maligawa
